The Hearing Science Accelerator Coordinator (HSAC) will work collaboratively with the House Institute Research Faculty and the Steering Committee to develop a dynamic symposium that unites thought leaders from clinical, research, and other related fields and disciplines. This individual will oversee the strategic planning process from start to finish as well as the logistics of the 3-day symposium itself. The successful applicant must be willing to acquire fluency in the history, current treatments, and literature surrounding hearing-related diseases. They will exhibit a self-motivated, highly organized, resourceful, and investigative personality. This role requires the ability to synthesize complex information, ideas, and input, effectively delegate to peers and superiors alike, take sound executive action, and maintain clear and consistent lines of communication within the House Institute and across international stakeholders.
- Build network of partnerships with relevant experts, policymakers, agency heads, private sector leaders, media, and peer institutions.
- Identify and recruit interdisciplinary experts as participants who can advise on treatment modalities, clinical care, and the application of emerging technologies.
- Interface as the primary logistical contact with cross-sectoral stakeholders including research scientists, physicians, public health professionals, policy makers and government entities who can actively leverage their expertise to promote hearing research, treatment, and interventions.
- Strategize with House Institute Faculty to create a deadline-driven blueprint for the planning of the symposium. Track progress and uphold a culture of accountability.
- Drive the preparation and planning of inaugural HSA through responding to inquiries, maintaining correspondence, sharing memos, reports, research manuscripts, assisting in PowerPoint presentations, and booking travel arrangements.
- Work closely with Marketing and Communications to design and implement a coherent external affairs strategy that promotes the mission and vision of the HSA.
- Coordinate advisors to form local and international steering committees.
- Engage with steering committee to develop programming and outreach that builds momentum leading up to the symposium.
- Facilitate communication and monthly conference calls between the steering committee and the subcommittees to ensure timeliness of deliverables and preparedness.
- Create conference budget and track all expenditures accordingly.
- Negotiate venue and lodging contracts.
- Serve as liaison with vendors on all event-related matters to ensure program success.
- Direct logistics during event to ensure high quality experience for attendees, staff, volunteers, and speakers.
- Oversee the collection and evaluation of metrics that reflect the success of conferences.
- Obtain feedback, propose new ideas, and seek to improve the planning and execution of HSAs year over year.
- Maintain strategic communication with attendees post symposium to report on progress towards goals and share important developments.
Education and Experience
- B.A. or B.S. plus minimum of three years of research, medical, or science experience.
- Prior experience in an academic or research setting, healthcare setting, non-profit, or start-up preferred.

- Some event management experience a plus.
